About Trees Hate You

Trees Hate You is one of those games that looks simple at first, but it really isn’t. You start just walking through a forest, thinking it’ll be an easy run… and then suddenly everything turns into a trap. The game is built around short attempts, quick restarts, and a bunch of sneaky tricks that catch you when you least expect them.

It’s not trying to scare you or anything like that. Instead, it kind of messes with you in a funny way. Yeah, you’ll fail a lot—but somehow it doesn’t feel that bad. You just hit restart and try again. You can even play it right away at https://thatsnot-myneighbor.io, so there’s no setup needed.

Gameplay & Mechanics

  • You move through the forest and try to make it as far as possible
  • Traps are everywhere, even in places that look completely safe
  • Some paths are designed to trick you, so don’t trust them too quickly
  • Every time you fail, you learn something (even if it’s the hard way)
  • You can collect small items and tweak your character a bit
  • Runs are short, which makes it easy to jump back in again

Controls

  • Move using WASD or Arrow Keys

Overall, Trees Hate You is pretty simple, but that’s what makes it work. It’s fast, a bit annoying (in a good way), and strangely addictive—you’ll probably fail over and over, but you’ll still want one more try.
