About Originle

Originle is a small daily challenge for anyone curious about the world. Take your time with the clues, weigh up the possibilities, and see whether you can identify the guest without giving away too many points.

In Originle, you need to work out where a mystery guest is from. The game doesn't hand you a map with the answer waiting to be found. Instead, you get clues from a person's life, like their language, food, and local customs. Some details may seem familiar, but finding the right country takes a bit of thought. A new puzzle arrives each day.

How to Play

  • Read the guest's clues.
  • Type a country as your answer.
  • Make up to three guesses.
  • Check the distance and direction after a wrong answer.
  • Choose Give Up to reveal the solution.

You can unlock up to eight clues, but extra hints can cost you points. It's tempting to open everything when the answer isn't obvious. Try working with the information you already have first.

Things to Know

  • Each puzzle features a different guest.
  • You learn about countries through everyday life and culture.
  • A wrong guess costs 3,000 points.
  • Distance feedback helps you narrow down the search.

Tips for Playing

  • Look for patterns: Several clues together are more useful than one familiar word.
  • Check other details as well: The way someone speaks doesn’t always tell you where they’re from.
  • Use every hint you can. Get all the clues you can before asking for more hints.
  • Take a different tack: If you get it wrong, use the distance to reconsider which country might be the right one.
  • Think before you answer; you only get three tries, and a random guess could cost you points.
