Unbox the Room is a laid-back puzzle game about unpacking stuff and finding somewhere to put it. You start with boxes waiting to be opened, then pull things out and decide where they belong. A book might look fine on a shelf, while a small decoration may fit better on a desk or inside a drawer.
There isn’t a clock counting down in the corner, and you don’t need quick reflexes to get through a room. The tricky part is usually space. Once you have several things on the table, it becomes harder to see what should go where. Moving one object can also make room for another, so sometimes the easiest solution is simply to clear an area and start arranging it again.
Click a box and take the items out one at a time. Before putting anything down, have a quick look around the room. Shelves, drawers, tables, and other surfaces may already give you a clue about where an object belongs.
I found it easier to deal with the bulky items first. Once the larger pieces are in place, there’s less guesswork with the smaller belongings. Leaving books, decorations, and other little objects until later also keeps the room from becoming a mess halfway through.
Some objects are more than decoration, too. Certain belongings can be clicked or used in small ways after you place them. A cassette tape, for instance, lets you type a name onto its label. They’re little details, but they make the unpacking feel less repetitive.
The nice thing about Unbox the Room is that there’s no need to rush toward the next room. Open a box, look at what you found, move a few things around, and slowly turn the space into a room that actually feels lived in.
