About Idols Of Ash

Idols Of Ash is a first-person dark fantasy horror game developed by Leafy Games and released on April 6, 2026. At first glance, it might seem like a simple indie project, but once you actually start playing… it quickly feels a lot more intense than expected.

The game drops you into a massive, crumbling structure buried deep underground, covered in ash and darkness. You’re constantly moving downward, trying to survive while something hunts you from behind. There’s no combat at all—no weapons, no fighting back. It’s all about movement, timing, and staying in control even when things start to feel a bit overwhelming.

It’s technically a short experience, but it doesn’t feel “small.” The tight jumps, vertical design, and sound cues make every moment count. One mistake, and yeah… you’ll feel it immediately.

Idols Of Ash Gameplay Overview

What makes Idols Of Ash stand out is how focused it is. Everything revolves around movement.

You’ll be using a grappling hook to swing across gaps, chaining jumps together, and trying to keep your momentum going as you descend deeper into the structure. It sounds simple, but in practice, it takes a bit to get used to—especially when the pressure kicks in.

And then there’s the creature. You don’t always see it, but you can hear it. That alone is enough to make you second-guess your decisions.

Player Guide

  • Move with W/A/S/D (or touch controls), and look around with your mouse or screen
  • Press Space to jump, and Shift to sprint when you need extra distance
  • Hold click to use the grappling hook and swing across gaps
  • Use E (or tap) to interact or grab onto ledges

Try to take a second to understand the space before moving. Rushing blindly usually doesn’t go well—I learned that pretty fast.

Also, don’t ignore the audio. The game tells you a lot through sound, sometimes more than what you can actually see.

Master The Game Rules

  • Keep your flow going. Stopping too often makes everything harder than it needs to be
  • Movement is more about timing than speed, even if it doesn’t feel like it at first
  • Looking back will slow you down… more than you’d expect, honestly
  • The creature doesn’t need to be visible to be a threat—just assume it’s always close
  • Some routes are faster, but they’re also riskier, so it’s a bit of a trade-off

Tips to Survive in Idols Of Ash

  • Release the grapple right at the top of your swing for better distance
  • If something feels off, it’s usually better to pause and adjust instead of forcing it
  • Sound cues tend to be more reliable than visuals
  • You’ll naturally improve just by replaying—it’s that kind of game
